The Story: A Moment of Sunlight and Simple Joy
A Smile on a Dreary Day
This photograph, to me, is a perfect antidote to the grey days of winter. It had been one of those stretches of weather where the sun seemed to have forgotten the UK entirely. Then, one afternoon, the sun came out in all its glory breaking through the clouds and warming the garden.
A Dunnock cautiously emerged from under the bushes and immediately landed on a dead bit of wood we have in the garden, taking full advantage of the warm sun. It lifted its head to the warmth, closed its eyes, and in that perfect, fleeting moment, it genuinely looked like it was smiling. It was a tiny, joyful celebration of sunshine, and I was lucky enough to capture it.
This print is a reminder that even after the longest grey spell, there is always a moment of hope and simple joy to be found. It's perfect for cheering up any room and is available in all formats to suit your needs: as a print, poster, framed art, or a digital download all of them in various sizes.
